Edward Riley

Management Consultant

Edward Riley is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Colmina, and a key consultant at Luminae, where he applies over 35 years of industry experience to help financial professionals navigate growth, succession, and strategic transformation.

Ed’s career spans founding E.K.Riley Investments—a Seattle-based independent broker/dealer—to holding senior roles across Wall Street, including institutional sales & trading, municipal bond brokering, correspondent banking, research analysis, and software development management. Following the successful acquisition of E.K.Riley by LPL in 2020, Ed launched Colmina, an independent RIA platform that offers ownership opportunity and integrated client and marketing support to financial advisors seeking growth, scale, and long-term continuity.

At Luminae, Ed provides targeted consulting for advisors and firms ready to level up. He specializes in succession planning, RIA formation, business valuation, and practice acquisition strategies. His consulting focuses on building scalable platforms, refining compensation models, improving operational efficiency, and navigating complex transitions—especially in advisor recruitment and team building. His guidance covers client segmentation, enterprise value creation, marketing systems, and infrastructure design with an emphasis on sustainable growth.

With a blend of practical insight and strategic depth, Ed helps financial professionals reimagine their practice as a business—equipped to thrive in today’s increasingly competitive and complex advisory landscape.

Outside of work, Ed prioritizes time with his family and focuses on travel, fitness, and meditation. He and his wife, Heather Picken, were married in 2021.
